Dermaroller therapy, also known as microneedling, stimulates the collagen production in your skin, resulting in a smoother, brighter, healthier and younger-looking appearance. It is one of the best and most exciting non-surgical skin regeneration procedures available, and our skilled and knowledgeable clinicians are proud to offer you this treatment.
Book an appointmentDermaroller skin needling, or collagen induction therapy, is a safe and effective way to stimulate the production of new collagen in your skin. It used a sterile medical roller covered in tiny microneedles to create miniscule pinpoint punctures in your skin. Your body reacts to this as damage and initiates the healing process, prompting your skin to rebuild and therefore improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, acne, and enlarged pores.
Dermaroller treatment offers amazing results without the need for any of the downtime associated with more invasive chemical peels. With dermaroller, we don’t need to add any foreign substances to the body or take anything away, as the treatment simply and safely stimulates a natural process.
We begin with a thorough consultation, making sure you understand the treatment, answering any of your questions, and obtaining your consent to continue.
We apply a topical anaesthetic to numb your skin around 30-40 minutes prior to treatment. We then use the dermaroller to gently prick your skin in the targeted area and begin the collagen production process. This takes only around 30 minutes to complete.
We apply a specialised cream immediately after your treatment, designed to soothe and calm your skin. You may find your skin feels warmer and tighter than usual, and look as though you have moderate sunburn. We give you some tailored advice for caring for your skin in the first few weeks after treatment.
Book an appointmentDermaroller treatment is fantastic for regenerating and rejuvenating the skin on the face, neck, décolleté, and the back of the hands. It can be used to achieve incredible results for a variety of concerns, including:
We usually recommend a course of 3 treatments every 4- 6 weeks, although in cases of severe acne scarring further treatments may be required. Whilst not indicated for every patient, skin preparation with active ingredients such as Vitamin C, for 2 weeks prior to the treatment, may maximise treatment outcomes.
Patients who have taken Roaccutane in the last 6 months, have dermatitis or infection in the area to be treated, people who are pregnant or who have abnormal wound healing are not suitable for treatment.
Immediately after treatment, your body begins to regenerate and repair your skin below the surface. It can take 6-8 weeks before these signs of regeneration are visible, and the process continues for a number of months to provide you with a natural long-lasting enhancement.
Straight after your dermaroller treatment, you will look like you have moderate sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tight. This redness will begin to fade after 1-2 hours and most people recover the same day, with only slight redness the following day.
Dermaroller therapy is suitable for most patients, and can be used on any skin tone. It can also be used during the summer months, a time when other aesthetic treatments are more risky due to the increased UV sensitivity they can induce.
