Help them face the new term with a smile
07/09/2016 by Dental DesignIt’s that ‘back to school’ time of year again, which means shiny new shoes, freshly packed pencil cases and stiff shirt collars. But it’s also a whole new academic year for older students, including the fresh intake of undergraduates and those returning for another round of student union shenanigans, excessive socialising and a perhaps just a smidgeon of studying. So whether you’re kitting out your kids with smart school uniforms or packing off your slightly bigger babies to uni, don’t forget to make sure their teeth are in good working order before they go.
Dentistry@68 offers routine dental care for the whole family to ensure teeth of all ages stay strong and in their rightful place! Based near Poole town centre and with five well-equipped surgeries, we are the perfect place for your regular check-ups and dental care. But don’t worry if you haven’t already sorted out appointments for your brood before the start of the new term, we do offer times outside school hours too (up until 4.30pm on Tuesday or Wednesday, until 5.30pm on Thursday and 6pm on Monday) so your little learners can have their teeth checked out without missing a thing in the classroom.
To ensure teeth stay as shiny and clean as those new school shoes and gums continue to be healthy, why not book a hygienist appointment too. And remember, you don’t need to be one of our patients to visit the Dentistry@68 hygienists so anyone can benefit from a standalone appointment, with no obligation to join our practice. Our hygienists will professionally clean teeth and give you, and your kids, useful tooth care tips, including how to use dental tools. This will help you care for little teeth effectively at home and encourage children to stay on top of their oral hygiene while living away. Hygienists will also give advice on how to achieve a tooth friendly diet, including how to reduce sugar intake and limit how often your teeth come under attack from acid during the day – all good to know when it comes to filling lunchboxes.
We can also apply fissure sealants to those fiddly grooved areas on the back teeth to help prevent decay in often hard to clean areas. This clear coating is a great way to protect young teeth and is most effective when applied to newly emerged permanent teeth so it is ideal for children over 6 years of age.
If you have active offspring then why not kit them out with one of our mouthguards to keep precious teeth protected while they get stuck into contact sports such as rugby and hockey. We offer a range of these protective devices from entry-level ‘boil and bite’ guards to top of the range custom-made mouthguards for a perfect, professional fit. We also have mouthguards that fit over braces, so if your child is undergoing a touch of teeth straightening, they can still take part in sport knowing their pearly whites will be well-protected.
And remember, we take care of the whole family, even its tiniest members, so even if you have little ones who aren’t quite ready for school, we will be really happy to see them too, and the earlier the better. In fact, it’s a good idea to introduce your child to the dentist as soon as their first baby tooth appears – this will help to prevent any future problems and get them used to coming to see us.
So add Dentistry@68 to your ‘back to school’ to-do list and make sure your children’s teeth are all set for whatever the new term throws at them. And if you fancy a touch of youth boosting me-time after the incredibly long school holidays, why not take advantage of our ‘back to school’ offer, giving you 10% off all facial aesthetic treatments.
