Important Patient Information
Corona Virus
Firstly, the team here at Dentistry@68 hope you, your family, loved ones and friends are safe and well in these difficult times.
The unprecedented events over the last few weeks regarding COVID-19 have been very challenging. Maintaining the safety of our patients, our staff and the wider community has been of paramount importance.
The Chief Dental Officer for England has stopped all routine, non-urgent dental care including orthodontics until advised otherwise.
The practice of dentistry poses an extremely high-risk of acquiring and spreading COVID-19. The unavailability of special ‘FFP3’ face masks, other specialised protective equipment and appropriate training for use of this equipment means we are no longer able to see any patients face-to-face.
We will be there for you in any way we can, the current guidelines have made dramatic changes to the provision of emergency care.
The whole dental team and I are working closely with health care commissioners for the South West Region, our local hospital consultants and fellow regional dental colleagues for the development of a Local Urgent Dental Care System. The rapid coordination and development of this service will see clinicians with full personal protective equipment. It is likely that this service will be strictly limited to dealing with acute dental emergencies rather than broken fillings/crowns. Members of the 68-Team have already volunteered and pledged support to these clinics.
I would like to reassure you that we continue to be contactable for all our patients by the establishment of a remote urgent care service. We have established secure remote access to our clinical database. We are available regarding any dental problems or concerns you may have during this outbreak. We will be able to offer advice; prescribe pain relief and antibiotics should your symptoms meet certain criteria – prescriptions will be able to be collected from the practice.
You can telephone the practice on 01202 673037 or 01202 687087.
Any patient can contact Dr Richard Morgan on 07498205517.
You can email your dentist at info@dentistry68.co.uk.
In addition, we will provide any necessary information and updates on our website www.dentistry68.co.uk and on our Facebook page and other social media platforms.
Whilst the practice doors remain temporarily closed the 68-Team is working tirelessly behind the scenes. We are taking significant measures to ensure the practice remains viable during this shut-down period in order to facilitate your dental care once we are permitted to re-open.
We are in the process of contacting our patients to reschedule appointments booked for April 2020. At this stage we are unsure how long the practice will be required to remain temporarily closed. The time frame for the temporary closure will continually be reviewed following government advice.
If you have a scheduled appointment prior to Thursday 30th April 2020 we will endeavour to contact you to reschedule your appointment. If we have been unable to contact you, please be advised that your appointment is cancelled, and we will be in contact with you.
For patients with appointments scheduled for May and June please be advised these appointments are suspended until further communication from the practice.
If there is anything you would like to discuss further, then do contact the practice by email where possible. Once the COVID-19 situation becomes stable we look forward to seeing you all once again.
I would like to thank you for your continued support and custom. I wish you well over the coming weeks and months.
Keep safe and stay well
Yours sincerely
Dr Richard Morgan BDS DPDS PGDip
