Microneedling / Dermaroller

Microneedling is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment that uses a device with tiny, fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen and elastin, which are vital for healthy, firm skin.

Dermaroller treatment, a form of microneedling, improves skin texture and reduces scars by promoting deep skin regeneration. The micro-channels created by the needles break down old scar tissue and encourage the formation of new, healthy skin cells and collagen. This remodels the skin from within, leading to a smoother surface and a more even complexion.

Dermaroller therapy is suitable for most patients, and can be used on any skin tone and type. It can also be used during the summer months, a time when other aesthetic treatments are more risky due to the increased UV sensitivity they can induce.

​We usually recommend a course of 3 treatments every 4- 6 weeks, although in cases of severe acne scarring further treatments may be required. While not indicated for every patient, skin preparation with active ingredients such as Vitamin C, for 2 weeks prior to the treatment, may maximise treatment outcomes. Maintenance sessions are often recommended every six to twelve months.

The sensation of microneedling can be described as a mild scratching or vibration. To ensure your comfort, we can apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area before the procedure begins.

A typical microneedling session, including the application of topical anaesthetic, usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes.

You may notice an immediate glow to your skin, but the more significant and long-lasting results will appear gradually over the next few weeks and months as your body produces new collagen. Your skin will continue to improve over time.
