Consultation and assessment
At your initial consultation, we examine your teeth and discuss the Smilelign treatment process in detail. We take digital scans and images, which are used to create your precise and comfortable aligners.

With no metal present whatsoever, Smilelign aligners blend into your teeth and are virtually invisible when worn, boosting your confidence even during treatment.
Smilelign aligners are very easy to wear, as precise digital impressions ensure a snug and comfortable fit. All you need to do is keep them in your mouth all the time to allow the gradual forces to work on moving the positions of your teeth. No, clear aligners are incredibly discreet and are virtually invisible when worn, meaning other people will not be able to tell they are there. One of the great benefits of Smilelign clear aligners is the way the treatment enables you to easily continue your life as normal.
The length of your Smilelign treatment will depend on the complexity of your case and how far your teeth have to move. Mild cases can see results in as little as three months, with 6-12 months a typical timeframe for treatment. Your dentist will be able to give you an idea of how long your treatment could take at your initial consultation.
You will have regular appointments during your Smilelign treatment, so your dentist can check your progress and make sure everything is going to plan. It is also important that you attend regular check ups during your orthodontic treatment, so your dentist can keep an eye on your oral health.
Innovative digital technology is used to enhance and elevate your Smilelign treatment. Digitial 3D scans and images ensure your aligners are accurate and comfortable, easily able to be worn for 22 hours per day. We can even use specialised digital software to show you a preview of how Smilelign aligners will transform your smile!
Yes, Smilelign clear aligners are completely removable, enabling you to eat and drink whatever you choose and brush your teeth with ease. It is important to remember to pop them back in your mouth as soon as possible though, to avoid disrupting the progress of your treatment.
Retainers are a very important final stage of all orthodontic treatment. Teeth have a habit of moving over time, and wearing a retainer will prevent them from returning to their old positions. We advise you wear your retainer on a part time basis (overnight works well) for the long term, to keep your teeth straight.
Your speech may be affected when you first start to wear your aligners, and each time you move to the next aligner in the series. This is completely normal and will fade within a day or two, as you get used to the feeling of the aligner in your mouth.
If you lose or break one of your aligners, please don’t panic! Contact us as soon as possible for tailored advice. In the meantime, you can wear an aligner from your previous set to avoid interrupting your treatment progress too much. We may suggest you move onto your next set of aligners rather than replacing the lost or broken one, if this is appropriate.
