What are polynucleotides and how do they work?

Polynucleotides are non-surgical hydrating and moisturising treatments which work at a cellular level to restore your skin’s natural vitality and health. They focus on deep skin regeneration, promoting the production of new collagen and elastin to provide a gradual and long-lasting improvement in the appearance of your skin.

Polynucleotides act as powerful cellular biostimulators. They can be used as a preventive measure or a restorative treatment, enhancing your skin from within. With this advanced aesthetic treatment, we can help you achieve a more confident and youthful glow across many areas of your face.

Your journey to a youthful glow with polynucleotides

Consultation
We begin with a thorough consultation with our experienced aesthetic clinicians. We discuss your goals, make sure polynucleotides are suitable, and create your personal treatment plan.

Polynucleotide injections
We use very fine needles to inject the polynucleotide solution into the superficial layers of your skin, enhancing hydration and stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Post-treatment care
Immediately after the injections, we gently massage the treated area and give some aftercare advice. We recommend 2-4 sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart, for the best results.

Frequently Asked Questions
What areas can be treated with polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are versatile and can be used to treat various areas, including the full face, neck, décolletage, hands, and even delicate areas like under the eyes and around the mouth.

How long does the treatment take?

A typical polynucleotide treatment session usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. We are happy to advise you of your treatment time at your consultation.

When will I see results?

Results from polynucleotide treatments are gradual and natural, as they rely on your body’s own regenerative processes. You may start to notice improvements in skin hydration and radiance within a few weeks, with more significant changes in elasticity, firmness, and overall skin quality becoming apparent over 1-3 months following your course of treatments.

How long do the results last?

The regenerative effects of polynucleotides can last for several months, depending on factors such as age, lifestyle and the condition of your skin. We recommend an initial course of 2-4 treatments spaced approximately 2-4 weeks apart, followed by top-up treatments every six months, to maintain your results.

What does the aftercare involve?

Proper aftercare is crucial to ensure optimal results and minimise any side effects from polynucleotides. Try to avoid touching the treated area for at least 6 hours to prevent infection. Also, refrain from strenuous exercise, and avoid excessive heat or extreme cold for 24-48 hours. It is also important that you stay hydrated.

Are polynucleotides used in skincare or medicine?

Polynucleotides are used in both skincare (aesthetic medicine) and medicine, particularly in regenerative medicine for tissue repair and wound healing.

What is the difference between DNA and RNA polynucleotides?

Both DNA and RNA are essential molecules that carry genetic information in our bodies. DNA uses a sugar called deoxyribose and a base called thymine, and its primary job is to store our genetic instructions. RNA, on the other hand, uses a sugar called ribose and a base called uracil (instead of thymine), and it’s mainly involved in reading and acting on those genetic instructions to build proteins.

Are there any side effects of polynucleotide-based treatments?

The common side effects of polynucleotides are mild, including redness, swelling, bruising, and small bumps at the injection sites. These are temporary, and usually resolve within a day or two. Serious side effects are rare. Please talk to our friendly team if you have any questions.
